Perspective is something we all lose sight of far too often. We get caught up in the hussle and the bussle of the daily routine that we forget the big picture. Our problems all seem so huge no matter how small, just as the things that should matter the most to us seem to fade into an afterthought. No matter how busy you get you cannot take for granted what you truly have, because someone out there wishes they had what you had, no matter how bad your situation may seem.
So take this as a moment to reflect on everything significant that you have, instead of the material goods. Your mom that always makes you a number one priority, even if that means putting herself last. Your significant other who makes you dinner after a hard day. Your brother who calls you to check in to see how you are doing. Your friends who always are there to talk no matter the hour. Don’t lose perspective of who is truly important in your life, because things come and go, but family and true friends are there to stay.
We all get caught up in our own problems and world, but remember that your life is what you make it. While it is good to have goals you wish to achieve and things you want to improve, remember nothing is perfect. However, be positive and thankful for what you have and who you get to share it with. As Abraham Lincoln once said, “You can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses.” Choose to rejoice for the gift of roses.
